Scope: Design, fabricate and install commissioned wall art installation.
About: A large porcelain wall installation commissioned by University of West Georgia in early 2016 is now permanently installed in the foyer of the newly renovated UWG building. The goal was to design an art installation that honored the building’s history as the oldest hospital in their county (built 1890’s) and its deep connection to the community. The newly renovated building now functions as the medical campus and state of the art simulation hospital for medical students at UWG. Vintage photographs of the original hospital in use during it’s prime (1920 – 1940) where reduced and put into small glass medical vials and inserted into the center of each skin-like porcelain circuit piece creating a cellular appearance. Collectively the form, titled “Confluence” creates a larger organic arrangement that envelopes tiny moments of history, biology and technology.
